Get hands-on with the works of master artist Marc Chagall this winter! At Chagall for Children, you can create mosaics, weave tapestries, use touch screens to digitally alter Chagall’s masterpieces, create flower arrangements, conduct symphonies and even insert yourself into one of his paintings. Visitors of all ages can enjoy learning about art through multi-sensory components in this exhibit featuring 14 reproductions of his work such as the famous America Windows, I and the Village and Green Violinist.

This exhibit is generously supported by the Friends of the Library. Chagall for Children was created by Kohl Children’s Museum This exhibit is open to everyone, and is especially suited for children ages 2-12.

Marc Chagall was a Jewish painter, born in Russia, who lived most of his life in France. Known for his whimsical, child-like fantastic paintings, Chagall is one of the best-known artists of the 20th century.
 
 

Each component features one of Chagall’s works with an accompanying hands-on activity in a variety of media that encourages visitors to explore and work with a specific art principle such as color, composition, light and texture. Learn about the description for each component.

Individuals, families or groups who prefer visiting the exhibit during our lower traffic times are encouraged to come to the library on Tuesdays. Open to all, especially suited for those with autism spectrum and sensory processing disorders. 6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
 
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
 
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
 
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
 
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
 
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
 
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
 
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
 
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
 
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
 
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
 
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
